On 1st November 2016, the Singapore Tripartism Forum partners, comprising the Ministry of Manpower (MOM), National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) and the Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF), together with Workforce Singapore (WSG) and the Tripartite Alliance for Fair & Progressive Employment Practices (TAFEP) organized the Age Management Seminar 2016.
ServDes, the Service Design and Innovation conference, is the premier research conference for exchanging knowledge within Service Design and service innovation studies. Born as a yearly Nordic conference, ServDes has now become a bi-annual international event with the aim of bringing researchers and practitioners together to discuss, share and evolve the emerging discipline of Service Design, and design-related service innovation.
On February 10, 2016, our Director, Prof. JJ will be delivering a lecture to Collaborative and Industrial Design Program (CoID) at Aalto University, Finland. She will share her experiences of promoting Service Design in the public sector in Singapore and discuss how to embed design capabilities and Service Dominant Logic within organizations.
In January 2016, Service Design Lab signed a MOU with the Ministry of Manpower Singapore (MOM) to collaborate and coming up with design projects for MOM’s policy and public services. In addition to a series of design projects, SDL will develop participatory education programs for design capabilities within MOM, and MOM will provide internship programs for NUS design students.
Civil servants (people who work in the government), citizens & designers work together face-to-face for 48 hours to make better public services. SDL had the opportunity to facilitate the Global GovJam SG event at National Design Centre in June 2015. It is always interesting to see what these workshops bring!
As part of Singapore Design Week 2015, Service Design Lab and ThinkPlace hosted a workshop, ‘Co-design for Public Value’.
The workshop brought together almost 100 participants from various government agencies, professional designers and researchers. It also featured a panel of four speakers from Singapore, Finland and Australia who shared their experiences and research in public sector design: Kirsikka Vaajakallio (Senior Service Designer, Hellon Finland), Agnes Kwek (Director of Corporate Transformation, Land Transport Authority), Nina Terrey (Partner, ThinkPlace – Australia), & Hefen Wong(Senior Assistant Director, Behavioural Insights and Design Unit, Ministry of Manpower Singapore).
